PLANO, TEXAS As Hurricane Harvey continues to bring catastrophic flooding and devastation to parts of Southeast Texas, Service Metrics Group is donating a portion of its gross revenue in August and September to aid in the disaster relief effort. The company announced an initiative to help the tens of thousands of people in the affected areas meet their basic needs. In addition to its financial contribution, the company will be assisting efforts on the ground. "As a company founded in and with a proud presence in Texas, including the hardest-hit areas, we're committed to helping our neighbors get through this crisis," said Managing Partner Will Tarrant. "We know that the needs are immense, but so is our commitment for making a meaningful impact on the emergency response and humanitarian efforts. Our thoughts and prayers are with our fellow Texans." All donations will go directly to efforts on the ground in Southeast Texas, including the local Salvation Army, the American Red Cross and other respected organizations that provide disaster outreach in the region. Service Metrics Group is also encouraging its team members, clients, and others to make contributions to these worthwhile causes. Along with the financial assistance, the company's Dallas/Fort Worth-based team will be visiting the effected areas in the coming weeks to assist with relief efforts - including construction and food storage at the Salvation Army's rescue shelter in Houston. They are also working with multiple food banks throughout Texas to provide food and other necessities to multiple emergency shelters in and around Houston and Dallas/Fort Worth. About The Salvation Army The Salvation Army, established in London in 1865, has been supporting those in need without discrimination for more than 135 years in the U.S. More than 25 million Americans receive assistance from The Salvation Army each year through a range of social services: food for the hungry, relief for disaster victims, assistance for the disabled, outreach to the elderly and ill, clothing and shelter to the homeless, and opportunities for underprivileged children. For every dollar donated to The Salvation Army, 82 cents is used to support those services in 5,000 communities nationwide. The Salvation Army tracks the level of need across the country with the Human Needs Index (HumanNeedsIndex.org). Services include mystery shopping/quality inspections, customer satisfaction feedback and tracking systems, and online reputation management and review site monitoring. Service Metrics Group is a privately-held company with operations worldwide. Service Metrics Group has partnered with the largest grassroots running organization in the country, the Road Runners Club of America, to promote the 9th Annual RUN@WORK Day on September 19, 2014. Through this partnership, our organizations are working together to promote physical activity and healthy living within our community and around the country. The goal of RUN@WORK Day is to encourage adults to get 30-minutes of exercise each day, in accordance with the Physical Activity Guidelines for Americans, either before work, during lunch, or immediately following work. RUN@WORK Day also encourages companies to help employees schedule time for physical activity. Incorporating exercise into one’s daily routine can markedly improve one’s overall physical health. “Promoting a healthy lifestyle is a central focus of Service Metrics Group,” remarked Will Tarrant, co-founder and avid runner. “We encourage area employers and employees to plan and participate in local RUN@WORK Day events as part of the national movement to get people to incorporate exercise into their daily routines.” Service Metrics Group will be participating in the initiative as a complement to existing initiatives, including a corporate wellness program. "The RRCA is excited to have Service Metrics Group involved in our RUN@WORK Day series of events”, commented Jean Knaack, executive director of the RRCA. “Participation in the 9th Annual RUN@WORK Day is an important step in raising awareness about the importance of daily physical activity. If adults can lead by example, if companies can encourage healthy living, then together we can combat the national inactivity crisis gripping our nation.” A survey conducted by the Healthy Weight Commitment Foundation in 2011 found that 85 percent of small companies (10-99 employees) and 76 percent of larger employers (100-2,500) indicated an interest in developing running and walking clubs. RUN@WORK Day is a great opportunity for our organization to highlight how local running clubs and events can work with area businesses to meet their needs for developing running and walking programs for their employees.
